God’s Kings Are Not Mere Men

God’s Kings Are Not Mere Men

10 Principles That Qualify You For Royalty In Christ Jesus

There is a realm where titles mean nothing, hallowed crowns fade, and earthly thrones crumble like sandcastles before the tide. This realm seems invisible, but it is more real than marble palaces. It is where kings are forged, crowned, and commissioned by God Himself. These kings do not ascend through politics, power plays, or birthright. They ascend by spiritual qualification. You may wonder why. To answer that question, we must go back to scripture, but before we do, one thing I can tell you for free is:

God’s kings are not mere men.

They are men and women shaped by principles, processed by fire, and positioned by grace. They are ordinary vessels carrying a royal mandate. They live on earth but think like heaven. They walk among crowds but move with the authority of ambassadors.

So what qualifies mortal men to become royalty in Christ Jesus? What makes a believer transcend mere existence and step into divine kingship?

Let’s journey through 10 tested principles from scripture.

  1.  Kings Are Born from Above: The Principle of Sonship

Every king in God’s kingdom begins with the simplest yet most profound qualification: new birth.

Jesus said in John 3:3:

“Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

You cannot reign in a kingdom you are not part of. Earthly royalty is inherited through natural birth. Heavenly royalty is inherited through spiritual birth.

When you receive Christ, you don’t just join the religion – you join a royal bloodline.

1 Peter 2:9 says:

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood…”

Royalty is not a reward; it is a birthright. God’s kings aren’t self-made—they are God-born.

This is the foundation of all kingdom authority: identity precedes dominion.

You reign because you belong.

  • Kings Submit Before They Rule: The Principle of Divine Alignment

Every kingdom has an order, and God’s kingdom is no different. Before God trusts you with authority, He tests your alignment.

Jesus Himself embodied this:

“I do nothing of myself… I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father.” – John 5:30

If the King of Kings submitted, how much more should His kings?

Divine kingship requires divine submission.

David understood this. Before he ever sat on a throne, he spent years serving under Saul, an unstable, insecure king who tried to kill him.

Why did God allow that?

Because you cannot reign until you have learned restraint.

Apostle Paul said “But I batter my body and bring it into servitude…” 1 Corinthians 9:27

True kings don’t fight for thrones; they wait for God to establish them. They don’t force destiny; they flow with it. They don’t crown themselves; they are crowned by heaven.

When a believer is aligned with God’s will, heaven backs their authority.

  • Kings Carry A Heart For God: The Principle Of Devotion

God does not qualify kings by muscles, pedigree, charisma, or intellect. He looks for one thing:

“A man after My heart.” — 1 Samuel 13:14

David was not God’s choice because he was perfect; he was chosen because he was devoted.

Kings in God’s kingdom aren’t flawless—they are God-focused.

They cultivate:

  • prayer
  • worship
  • Obedience
  • Holiness
  • Intimacy with God

These qualities make them safe to carry power.

Samson had strength but lacked devotion. Solomon had wisdom but lost devotion. David had plenty of mistakes but kept devotion.

In God’s kingdom, devotion is the currency of dominion.

You rise to kingship through the posture of your heart.

  • Kings Are Forged in Adversity: The Principle of Process

God never enthrones anyone He has not refined.

Joseph wore the coat of many colour,s but could not sit on Egypt’s throne until:

  • He was betrayed,
  • sold into slavery,
  • wrongfully imprisoned,
  • forgotten by men.

Why such a long process?

Because thrones require character.

Every king in Scripture went through a furnace:

  • Moses spent 40 years in Midian.
  • David wandered in caves.
  • Paul endured shipwrecks, beatings, and imprisonment.
  • Even Jesus was tested in the wilderness.

Adversity is not a sign of abandonment – it is the workshop of kings.

James 1:4 says: “Let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”

When God processes you, He is not punishing you; He is preparing you.

Kings are not crowned in comfort – they are built in fire.

  • Kings Walk In Wisdom: The Principle Of Foresight

Earthly kings rule with armies. God’s kings rule with wisdom.

Proverbs 8:15 says:

“By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.”

Wisdom gives you:

  • strategy
  • discernment
  • vision
  • clarity
  • spiritual intelligence

Solomon asked for wisdom, and God gave him everything else.

Why?

Because wisdom is the infrastructure of dominion.

When a believer grows in the wisdom of the Spirit, they begin to make kingdom-driven decisions that shift nations, families, businesses, and destinies.

The presence of wisdom is proof that a king is rising.

  • Kings Understand Authority: The Principle of Dominion

The kingdom of God is a government. Kings in this kingdom must understand spiritual authority.

Jesus gave His disciples authority over:

  • demons
  • sickness
  • oppression
  • the powers of darkness

Luke 10:19 says:

“Behold, I give unto you power… over all the power of the enemy.”

This authority is not theoretical – it is operational.

But here is the principle: Authority flows from identity and maturity.

You cannot cast out what you secretly submit to. You cannot rebuke darkness you still entertain.

Kings operate in power because they operate under God.

They know who they are. They know whose they are. They know what they carry.

This makes them spiritually dangerous.

  • Kings Carry Responsibility: The Principle of Service

In God’s kingdom, kings are not tyrants – they are servants.

Jesus said in Matthew 20:26:

“Whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister.”

And in verse 28:

“The Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve…”

Kings serve. Kings lift others. Kings defend the weak. Kings fight injustice. Kings build, nurture, and protect.

Service is not a downgrade – it is a qualification.

If power makes you proud, you are not ready to be God’s king.

True kings bow before they ascend.

  • Kings Live By Righteousness: Principle Of Integrity

Psalm 45:7 says:

“Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness; therefore God… hath anointed thee.”

Anointing follows integrity.

Righteousness is the sceptre of kings. It is the foundation of their influence. It keeps their crown shining.

When kings walk in righteousness:

  • Their authority is strong
  • Their prayers carry weight
  • Their presence brings peace
  • Their decisions bring justice

But when righteousness is compromised, power leaks.

Kings guard their purity because it sustains their dominion.

  • Kings Live for a Kingdom Bigger Than Themselves: The Principle of Purpose

Earthly kings build monuments. God’s kings build kingdoms.

Every believer-king carries a divine assignment, which are: to win souls, disciple nations, bring heaven into culture and represent Christ on earth.

Revelation 1:6 says:

“…and hath made us kings and priests unto God…”

You are not a king for admiration – you are a king for mission.

God did not crown you because you are special; He crowned you because you are needed.

Your authority is tied to your assignment.

When you step into purpose, your kingship becomes functional, powerful, and impactful.

  • Kings Rule Through Christ: The Principle of Grace

Finally, kingship in God’s kingdom is impossible without grace.

Romans 5:17 declares:

“…they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.”

You don’t reign by effort – you reign by Christ. You don’t ascend by merit – you ascend by mercy. You don’t walk in authority because of your perfection – you walk in authority because of His blood.

Grace is the crown. Grace is the throne. Grace is the sceptre. Grace is the secret.

Without grace, we are mere men.

With grace, we are kings.

God’s Kings Can Never Be Mere Men

God is raising men and women who refuse to live as mere mortals. Believers who understand their identity, embrace their process, grow in wisdom, walk in righteousness, submit to God, and live for kingdom assignment.

The world is not waiting for more celebrities. It is not waiting for more politicians. It is not waiting for more influencers.

It is waiting for kings.

Kings who know God. Kings who hear God. Kings who represent God. Kings who reign through Christ.

Remember this:

You were not saved to survive; you were saved to reign.

You were not saved for complacency. You were saved for spirituality.

The journey will not be easy. You were created for more.

“To whom much is given, much is required” Luke 12:48

Rise, king. Take your throne. You are not a mere man. You are God’s royalty.
